Congratulations to the boys basketball team on their win over Axtell today in the first round of the Twin Valley League tournament!
A win is always significant, no matter what's at stake, but today's win was not only significant because it advanced the boys into the quarterfinals of the league tournament. It was also significant because with the win, head coach Luke Baxter passed Orville Dodson in career wins, making him the all-time winningest coach in the history of Onaga High School's longest-running sport of boys basketball.
Congratulation Coach Baxter on reaching this milestone in your career! And thank you for all that you have done for Onaga basketball, as well as all of the young lives you've touched in a positive way along the way!

The junior high boys basketball game against Frankfort this evening has been postponed to a later date TBA. Thank you.

The 2021 Twin Valley League tournament begins this Saturday, January 16th. Due to KSHSAA's restrictions on number of teams allowed at a sporting event, the tournament will be held at two different sites this year. Frankfort High School will host all of the girls games and Onaga will host all of the boys games.
T-shirts will be available at both sites with the attached front and back design. The shirts will be dark grey in color. Shirts can be purchased for $15 on site throughout the tournament while supplies last, but if you would like to pre-order your shirt(s) this will not only guarantee the size you want is available, but also will save you a few dollars as the cost will be $12 if pre-ordered.
To pre-order, please send money with your child to school by Thursday, January 14th with the size(s) desired and the money for the number of shirts you would like. This can be given to Mrs. Suther at school.

One of the most difficult locally elected offices throughout our great nation is that of school board members. They continually have to weigh what is best for the district against all influences and individual wants, as well as make critical decisions that will affect hundreds of children's lives on a yearly, if not monthly, basis. Being a school board member is an unpaid position that requires quite a bit of time, patience, self education, understanding, study, and thoughtful deliberation.
This is school board member appreciation week and there's little payment that is as appreciated as much as a simple thank you. Please thank a USD 322 school board member some time this week for their service. The current members are Jeff Koelzer, Jessica Venneberg, Mark Kopp, Dustin Utley, Tracy Meyerkorth, Sarah McKinsey and Tasha Lara.

All of tonight's action can be seen on the NFHS Network at the link below, and rosters for both teams can be found at the district website, usd322.org.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of former Onaga counselor Laurie McClelland's passing on Christmas day. Laurie served as Onaga High School's counselor from 1996 until her retirement in 2014. She touched the lives of so many students in a such a positive way during her time in Onaga and will be greatly missed. As one OHS staff member said, the world is less bright without her.
