Last Friday night, the high school football team beat St. John's/Tipton 58-36. In the process, junior quarterback Zac Fisher broke the school's 8-man record for rushing yards in a game as he rushed 31 times for 333 yards and 6 touchdowns. He broke Logan Marten's 2016 record of 323 yards on 23 carries which happened in that wild season finale against Valley Falls that saw multiple state records broken. That was the first season of 8-man football at Onaga and Friday night, in the last season of 8-man football, Fisher also broke Marten's single-season 8-man rushing record, one that he will no doubt add to over the final three or more games remaining this season.
For his efforts, Zac was the featured athlete in this week's "TVL Sports Spotlight," a link for which can be found below.....

Good news! In addition to ACT national Saturday testing dates, hundreds of colleges now offer the popular ACT On-Campus program which allows students to schedule the ACT at a college they are considering attending. Instead of waiting weeks to get the results, they are immediate. But, the score is only shared with the university with which the test is taken.
For more details and for a list of universities in Kansas that offer On-Campus ACT testing, please see the attached images.

Good afternoon-
I want to thank the Onaga Hospital and Clinic in working with us over the past couple months to make antigen testing available for students who have been placed on quarantine and allowed them to return to school. The school district has paid for these antigen tests through October 6, 2021.
Starting on October 7, the school district will no longer be paying for antigen testing at the hospital. Instead, USD 322 will be offering on site antigen testing for USD 322 students and staff at the school beginning Friday, October 8. This service is free. Here are the important details listed below-
If your child is quarantined and you want to have them do the daily antigen test that allows them to attend school (wearing a mask) while in quarantine, the parent/guardian must call Gayla at the HS office by 2:30 each weekday. Gayla then submits the numbers of students to be tested the next morning to the hospital and our school nurse, Sierra Valburg. They then determine what amount of staffing is needed for the next morning. If more than 5 students call in, the hospital will provide staff to perform testing on-site at the school.
If only a few students are scheduled to test, testing will be offered from 7:45 am-8:30 am Monday- Friday. If more than 5 students testing, times will be offered starting 7:30-8:30am (must call in to Gayla the day before by 2:30 pm for appt the next day- no walk ups). The location will be at the north gym. Enter through the gray doorways North of the gym. There will be a set up there for kids to get tested and also wait while results are being determined. If they test negative, the nurse will send a slip with the student to give immediately to Karen or Gayla upon entry into school. If a student has a positive antigen test, a back up PCR swab will take place to confirm it is a true positive and parents will be notified to have their child quarantine at home.
The district will provide a parent consent form that is good for the remainder of the 21-22 school year that will be provided on site, on the school website, in both elementary/secondary offices and in the mailbox folder we have posted outside of the doors at the west main entrance to the high school. We are in the process of putting those together right now and will have posted on Thursday, October 7.

Community HealthCare System is having a Health Fair this Saturday, October 9th, from 7:00am to 10:00am. Those who attend can get low-cost labs, and Pottawatomie County Public Health will be here to give flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines (including booster shots for those who qualify).
Please find more information on the attached flyer and FAQ or visit this link: https://bit.ly/CHCS-Health-Fair

The high school volleyball team hits the road tonight as it heads to Wetmore for a triangular with the Cardinals and Axtell. Acton begins at 6:00pm and Buffalo fans are invited to participate in Wetmore's "Pink Out," as it raises breast cancer awareness. So wear your pink tonight and head to Wetmore to support our lady Buffaloes!

It's homecoming week in Onaga and it culminates tonight on the gridiron as the Wetmore Cardinals come to town for a league and district tilt. The Buffaloes are coming off of a 68-12 stomping of Linn last week and will look to continue their winning ways against the Cardinals tonight at 7:00pm when the two teams kickoff at the Rosenfield Sports Complex.
The crowning of the king and queen ceremony will take place at 6:15pm, then during the national anthem you can expect some surprises from our Onaga Fire Department. Also, tonight fans will see the return of an Onaga football tradition when the touchdown cannon makes its return to the field. Although this won't be an every-game occurrence like it used to be, the return of the cannon for the first time in over 15 years will be a welcomed site.
The team is also unveiling their new jerseys tonight, which happen to be a nod to Buffalo teams from decades ago. So come check out the new-look team as it continues to look impressive on the field, and enjoy the festivities this evening for homecoming!
Good luck tonight boys, GO BUFFALOES!!!
