Last week Mr. Goudy had a really cool presentation for Mrs. Huerter's 6th grade class. He shared his experiences training dogs for Search and Rescue in California during his time living there from 2008-2010. Mrs. Huerter asked him to talk about this as it was the week they talked about 9/11 and the immense effort of search and rescue that took place during that time. It also connected to their novel study book, "Hatchet," about a boy lost in the wilderness and how a search and rescue effort would look for that as well.
There is a video of Mr. Goudy using the special whistle that he utilized to call his dog during training and search/rescue efforts.
