Two teams are hosting events in Onaga tonight with the junior high volleyball and high school JV football teams both in action. The junior high volleyball team will be hosting Frankfort, Flint Hills Christian, and Linn in a quad that begins at 4:00pm. The JV football team is also playing in Onaga as they host St. Marys Academy. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm at the Rosenfield Sports Complex. Good luck to both teams today! GO BUFFALOES!!!

Get $1,000 through the Governor's KEEP program! • There are no fees to apply or participate in the program • Multiple students per household can apply • Awards can be used on academic camps, classes, tutoring, school supplies and technology, and more KEEP provides qualifying parents and guardians with a one-time $1,000 award per student to pay for educational goods and services such as tutoring and school supplies. The State is encouraging families to apply at www.keep.ks.gov while the program remains open. Completed applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once enough applications are received to award all funding, the program will enter into a hold status and applications received after that date will only be reviewed if funding remains available. The program will remain open for claims submissions, as beneficiaries have one year after their award date to use the funds.

PATHS is selling trash bags again and will be until next Thursday, October 5th. This is PATHS main fundraiser every year and all proceeds go to a great cause. They provide many services to the students at USD 322, and it's fundraisers like this that allow them to do so. Grade schoolers at the school are selling them and the class who sells the most will get an ice cream party! So get your trash bags before it's too late!

In Mrs. Claycamp's senior English class this week, students were put to the test. They had to use technology and their knowledge of medieval history to make it out of the Canterbury Tales Escape room! A great lesson to bring fun to the classroom!

The high school football team is back in action tonight at the Rosenfield Sports Complex, as they welcome Kickapoo Nation to Onaga for the first matchup between the two schools on the gridiron since 1946! Kickoff is set for 7:00pm, so come out and BE LOUD!!! Good luck tonight boys! GO BUFFALOES!!!

Onaga athletics is back in full force today as three teams will be competing this afternoon and evening. The cross country team will kick off the day at 4:30pm when they begin their meet at Nemaha Central with the girls running first and the boys to follow. Shortly after, the junior high volleyball team will serving it up in Centralia when they take on the Panthers at 5:00pm. Then the night cap will feature the junior high football team as they take on Centralia, with kick off set for 6:30pm at Riggins Field. During the September meetings, the Board of Education approved proposed amendments to the Student Handbook. The first corrected a consistency error between the Activities and the Student Handbook regarding the weekly eligibility date for activities and athletics. Eligibility will be run on Tuesday of each week. The second was a change to the Royalty Candidacy criteria. All senior students enrolled at OHS their senior meeting, who meet general activities eligibility criteria, may be considered for candidacy. Mrs. Huerter’s 3rd grade class visited the Havensville Living History Museum last Friday, September 15th. This has been an annual event for many years that students at USD 322 have had the opportunity to enjoy. The class learned about the past through hands-on activities such as candle making, how to do laundry, shucking corn, blacksmithing, butter making, animal petting, and corn fritter cooking/tasting. It was a beautiful day for a field trip!

The JV football team is looking to go 2-0 on the season tonight after a 14-12 win over Valley Heights last week. They are on the road this evening as they head to Centralia with kickoff is set for 6:00pm. Good luck tonight boys! GO BUFFALOES!!!

The high school football team is back on their home field tonight, as they get set to welcome Centralia to town. The matchup continues a football rivalry between the two schools that stretches back to 1921, with tonight's matchup being the 81st between the two schools. It should be a good one tonight in Onaga, so come out to the field tonight, BE LOUD, and cheer on the Buffaloes as they look to get the win over the Panthers! You'll want to come out early tonight too, as Farmers State Bank will be hosting their annual tailgate beginning at 5:30pm. They'll have pulled pork, baked beans, chips, cookies, and refreshments, all of which are complimentary thanks to FSB. Kickoff will follow at 7:00pm at the Rosenfield Sports Complex. It's a full day of athletics for Onaga today as the cross country team and both middle school teams are in action. Here in Onaga, the cross country team will get things rolling at Cool Springs golf course as they host their annual invitational. The girls will run first at 4:00pm, and the boys will follow. The junior high teams are on the road today at Doniphan West. Due to only having one court, the volleyball team will start a little earlier than usual at 4:00pm. The football team will kick off at their regular time, 6:30pm. The games will be played in Denton, the address for which is below. School isn't in session today with the staff having their monthly professional development, but there will be plenty going on this evening with both volleyball and football playing in Onaga. The volleyball team is hosting Bishop-Seabury and Burlingame in a non-league triangular, with the first game beginning at 5:00pm in the north gym. Down the hill, the JV football team will be hosting Valley Heights in their first contest of the season. The two teams will kick off at 6:00pm at the Rosenfield Sports Complex.
