The baseball and softball teams are both in action today with league titles on the line, as they both take on Troy. The softball team will be on the road to take on the Trojans at 4:30pm. The girls enter the game 8-6 on the season with a 2-0 league mark, while Troy is undefeated at 12-0 and 2-0 in the TVL. A sweep of the Trojans will win the league outright while a split would give them a share of the title.
Meanwhile, the baseball team will be hosting Troy for a double-header beginning at 4:30pm. The Buffaloes enter at 9-1 and are 4-0 in the TVL, while the Trojans come in with a 5-5 record and a 1-1 league mark. A sweep would give Onaga its third title in as many seasons of varsity baseball, while a split with Troy would guarantee a share of the league title.
Good luck to both teams today as they look to bring home league championships! GO BUFFALOES!!!

This week Mr. Kufahl's History of Onaga & Pottawatomie County class went on one of their history tours and visited Con's Cave outside of Wheaton. The old homestead was the home of Conrad Winkler and has some interesting stories/tales that go along with it. It is always one of the most enjoyed trips of the class and this year was no different!
A big thank you is owed to Alan Fischer for letting them explore the property!

The high school track team is on the road today for the second time in three days as they head to Frankfort for their invitational meet. This will be the team's second trip to Frankfort this season as they opened the year at their annual Arctic Meet. Field events get underway at 3:00pm.
To check out the roster, look at the schedule, keep up on results, and look at the program's history, head over the the track team's page on the school website, a link for which can be found below.
Good luck today to the track team, GO BUFFALOES!!!

Congratulations to Emmarsyn Fordham! The freshman had a record-breaking day yesterday in the weight room when she squatted 305 pounds! The lift broke the previous record set by Maria Krohn of 300 pounds. Maria previously held all three of the girls lifting records at Onaga and with her being a junior this year and Emmarsyn being a freshman, it will be fun to watch the two young athletes push each other over the next year!
Congratulations once again Emmarsyn, keep up the hard work!!!

The whirlwind of spring sports continues today at USD 322. Last night the softball team swept Pleasant Ridge in Easton, while the baseball team was at sweeping Oskaloosa. Today, the other spring sports teams are in action as the junior high team is already underway in Frankfort. Meanwhile, the high school track team is on the road at Jackson Heights with field events beginning at 3:00pm, and the golf team is at Horton for a 3:00pm shotgun start. That will be five sporting events this week thus far, with three more to go!
Good luck to the track teams and the golf team today, GO BUFFALOES!!!

The high school baseball and softball teams are back in action today in the first of two double-headers this week for both squads. The softball team will be on the road playing Pleasant Ridge tonight at Easton. The girls are sitting at 6-6 on the season and are currently sitting at 4th in their nine-team regional and a sweep tonight over the Rams would make finishing in the top four a near certainty. First pitch is set for 4:30pm at Easton. The address to the field can be found on the school website's athletic schedules.
Meanwhile, the baseball team will be back at the friendly confines of Grover Eddy Field in Onaga to take on Oskaloosa. The Buffaloes come into the game 7-1 and are currently 2nd in their regional standings. The Bears are 7-3 and split their double header with Onaga last year, but a sweep tonight would put them in a tie for 1st in their regional standings. So come out tonight at 4:30pm, grab a Lion's Club cheeseburger and, and cheer on the Buffaloes.
Good luck to both teams tonight, GO BUFFALOES!!!

- The dinner and dance will follow at the community center.
- After prom, put on by the senior parents, will take place back at the school.

The weight room at Onaga High School got a bit of a face lift today as two brand new weight racks were added to the facility. They arrived yesterday afternoon and today each class spent time assembling them. The new racks were purchased using funds raised from the Lift-a-Thons over the past several years. The intent is to continue to raise money and eventually replace all five racks in the weight room.
The new equipment not only are exciting for kids, but create needed space for classes and make the limited time students have already much more efficient. As you can see in the pictures, weights can placed on the rack themselves while in the past they were scattered around the room on ten different weight "trees." The trees themselves took up a tremendous amount of space, and it also meant that students had to walk over to a tree to get the weights they needed, taking time from their workouts and creating more chaos in already packed classes with 20+ students moving around to get weights and put them back.
The kids, staff, and coaches are excited about the new racks and are looking forward to more upgrades to the nearly 30-year old facility!

Mrs. Labbe's physics class, as a culminating activity to the buoyancy unit, brought three boats, made entirely of cardboard and duct tape, to the pool at Community HealthCare Systems, Onaga.
Winning the individual timed race was "The Flying Dutchman," built by Brooklyn Boren, Jeramia Dorsey, Eva Krohn and Tyree FIgge. They also won an award for persistence and most enthusiastic rowing by Tyree. The "Jenny," built by Emma Kolterman, Alli Nider, and Wyatt Pennington, easily won the head to head race when all three boats were in the water at once. While the "Delorean", built by Julia Byers, Payton Falk, Zac Fisher, and Gabe Kufahl made an excellent showing initially, it won the Titanic Award for the most spectacular sinking!
Nice job to the seniors who completed these projects!
