It's another full day of Onaga athletics, with four teams competing this afternoon.
The junior high and high school track teams are both on the road today. The junior high team is in Frankfort for the OTL meet, their final one of the season. Running events are just now underway as they look to finish their seasons strong. The high school team is at Valley Heights today and field events began just 15 minutes ago. For the varsity, it's their final competition before TVL next Thursday, while the JV has a home meet on Monday before league competition.
Meanwhile, the baseball and softball teams are both at home hosting Valley Falls. The softball team enters at 8-8 on the season, looking to move up in the regional standings where they currently sit at 5th place. They'll look to do so against a 9-9 Dragons team with the first pitch of the double-header set for 4:30pm.
The baseball team enters with a record of 13-3 and a state ranking of 6th, as they take on a 14-4 Valley Falls squad in a double-header that will likely determine which of the two teams gets the #1 seed at regionals in 11 days. First pitch for them is also set for 4:30pm, and the games will be broadcasted and livestreamed by KNZA. You can find it on your FM radio dial at 103.9, or listen on their website at maindigitalstream.com.

Written by longtime Topeka Capital Journal sports writer Brent Maycock, it previews the big matchup coming this Thursday in Onaga when the Buffaloes host Valley Falls in a double-header that will likely determine who the top seed is in their regional. The two teams will square off at 4:30pm at Grover Eddy Field.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he’ll eat the rest of his life! Mrs. Thomas's junior high OREO and high school Wildlife Science students got hands-on fishing experience last week as they learned how to fish, and prepare the fish afterwards. The students went out to Anne Suther's new pond to do the fishing, and she helped facilitate both that and the post-fishing activities!

Three Onaga teams are in action today as the spring sports gauntlet starts to near its end. The junior high track team will be at home for the final time this season as they host the Onaga "Stampede" this afternoon. The field events began at 2:00pm at the Rosenfield Sports complex today, with running events to follow.
Meanwhile, both the baseball and softball teams will be playing today as well. The softball team is playing its final JV games of the season at Rock Creek, with first pitch set for 4:30pm. If you plan on going, you may want to bring snacks if you are looking for any food or drink items.
The baseball team will also be on the road tonight as the varsity team takes on Jackson Heights. The double-header will be played in Netawaka with first pitch set for 4:30pm as the two teams meet on a baseball diamond for the first time in school history.

Last Friday the senior class enjoyed the annual history tour with Mr. Kufahl and local history guru Donn Teske. The morning featured some stops at local places like Con’s Cave, the Big Fill, the ghost towns of Bigelow and Irving, and was capped off by a visit to Alcove Springs, which was a major stop on the Oregon Trail and where the Donner Party camped on their infamous trip to California. After lunch they learned about historically significant people to the Onaga area, connecting the dots from our local past to present day.

Congratulations to the FFA's livestock judging team! The group went to Seneca last week and took home 1st place as a group in the contest. Senior Tyree Figge took home first place individually, sophomore Delaney Figge placed third, and sophomore L.J. Koelzer took 29th.

The students also completed three sets of state assessments this year, so to celebrate the completion of those, the class played kickball as a group. It was a great day!
