Day one is in the books for Onaga's wrestlers, as both won a match and lost a match. In the 138 pound weight class, Landon Koelling beat Joel Abell from Minneapolis by a 5-3 decision. Then, in the quarterfinals, he fell to Lukas Zodrow (35-2) from Decatur Community High School in a 6-0 decision. That moves him to the backside of the bracket, where he will now battle for a 3rd place finish. His next match will be tomorrow against Justin Patz (21-9) from McLouth. In the 285 pound weight class, Tatum Lara was pinned in his first match to Brody Chambers (35-3) of Southeast of Saline. That moved him to the backside of the bracket, where he faced Ethan Ranes (19-22) from Jayhawk-Linn. Tatum pinned him in less than a minute, sending him on to the next round where he will also be battling for 3rd place. His opponent has yet to be determined, but will be by the end of the night. Good luck tomorrow boys! GO BUFFALOES!!!

Today was the Oregon Trail League championship for junior high scholars bowl, and for the second straight year, it was a clean sweep for Onaga! Just like last season, the 7th and 8th grade teams both brought home the league title, making it four golds in two years. An amazing accomplishment and extremely rare feat for the scholars bowl program, which is coached by Mrs. Thomas. Congratulations again to the junior high teams! GO BUFFALOES!!!

Mr. Figge's Agricultural Communications class started a fundraiser this semester, with their main goal being to create a survey which they learned about during the class. Last week, they "Quacked" Mrs. Kramer's kindergarten class, and Mr. O'Dell's office. To keep the ducks, $15 dollars must be paid, and the class plans to "Quack" many more. The money received will be donated to the Pottowatomie/Wabunsee County Library's Onaga branch. The class of 2024 has pledged to match the raised money. A great way to bring classroom learning to real-world experiences, and all for a great cause!

It's an eventful night at Onaga this evening, as the basketball teams get set to host Valley Heights in the final home game of the season. It's senior night, as five basketball players and three cheerleaders step on the home court for the final time as Buffaloes. All games will be played in the north gym, with JV girls playing two quarters first, then JV boys also playing two quarters. The varsity girls will follow, and at the conclusion of that game we will have Senior Night festivities. Then the varsity boys will wrap up the night. Don't forget to come to the games with an appetite, as we hold a soup supper benefit for Coach Chamley from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Good luck to both teams tonight! GO BUFFALOES!!! Yesterday, the student body wore their "Team Chamley" shirts to school in support of Coach Chamley and his fight with cancer. Fans wore theirs to the game last night against NEK, and players wore theirs during pregame warmups. Tonight we will do the same thing, as we encourage you all to wear your "Team Chamley" shirts to the game against Valley Heights. It's the final home game of the season for both teams, and Coach Chamley plans to be there if he is feeling up to it. Please come out and support the teams, and Coach Chamley. And make sure to come hungry, as the basketball team and others at USD 322 have come together to put on a benefit soup supper for Coach. The meal begins at 4:30pm and all proceeds this evening will go to the Chamley family. We hope to see you all tonight!

Tonight marks the final non-league game of the regular season for the high school basketball teams, as they get set to host the Northeast Kansas private school out of Topeka this evening. The games kick off at 4:30pm with the JV girls in the north gym, then at 5:45pm the varsity girls will take the court, with the JV boys playing in the south gym. After the girls game, the varsity boys will cap off the night. A reminder, if you purchased a "Team Chamley" shirt, we ask that you wear that tonight and tomorrow to the final home games of the season. Between games, we will be taking a picture in the stands of everyone in attendance with their shirt on. Also, plan to eat your supper at the home game on Friday as we will be having a benefit meal with the proceeds going to the Chamley family. Good luck to both teams tonight! GO BUFFALOES!!!
