Yesterday afternoon, senior Jackson Kolterman went to Highland Community College to play in the Northeast Kansas All-Star basketball game. Jackson was selected as 1 of 23 players for the game, which features small-school players from around the area. The senior played on the "Gold" team along side two other TVL players, while the "Navy" team had three more players from the league.
Congratulations, Jackson, on your selection to the all-star game, and on a great ending to a great basketball career at Onaga!

Three high school students showcased their talents at the TVL Forensics meet on March 24th, achieving remarkable results:
Lillie Weiser secured 3rd place in Prose, earning a spot at the state festival.
Alyssa Rager achieved 5th place in Poetry.
Adalei Conley attained 6th place in Impromptu Speech.
Despite the small team size, their combined efforts led to an impressive 6th place overall finish. The team is coached by Hannah Kolterman.

🎉💜 Celebrating Our Homie with an Extra Chromie! 💜🎉
During our daily school family meeting, we had the honor of celebrating one of our very own Buffaloes, Maesynn, in honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Day! 🌟 Maesynn was born with an extra chromosome, and she fills our hearts with so much love and joy!
Her 5th-grade class did an amazing job organizing the day, complete with purple decorations (her favorite color!), a crown, posters, and a fun in-class party. 🎈👑 Maesynn even walked through her peers to the empowering sounds of her favorite song, Katy Perry's "Roar" – showing us all how strong and confident she truly is! 💪🎶
In addition to the celebration, our students learned about Down Syndrome through thoughtful classroom discussions and created their own "extra chromosome" by decorating socks, which we then strung down the elementary hallway. A sock represents what a chromosome looks like, and it was a meaningful way for students to connect and understand. 🧦💛
We were also joined by Maesynn’s amazing family: her older brother Zabel, younger brother Krevour, younger sister Annalynn, and Grandma Loretta—all part of the celebration that made this day even more special. 🖤🧡
A huge thank you to Maesynn's wonderful parents, Gail Wege and Robert Collins, for supporting us in celebrating their incredible daughter. We're so grateful to be part of this journey with you! 💜
We love you, Maesynn! You're a true inspiration, and we're proud to call you part of our Buffalo family. 🦬🏫🖤🧡

The JV softball team took on the Rock Creek C-team last night at Rock Creek, and came away with a double-header sweep of the Mustangs winning 12-2 and 16-3. In the games, junior Ember Conger hit a homerun and sophomore Willow Hochstedler blasted two.
The varsity girls are back on the field tomorrow in Onaga when they host Marysville at 4:30pm.
Congrats girls! GO BUFFALOES!!!

Last night, "Kansas Pregame" magazine released the online version of their Spring 2025 edition. The magazine's spring publication features previews of the upcoming seasons for baseball, softball, and track throughout the entire state. Their magazine cover features some of the best seniors in their respective sports, and this year two Buffalo baseball players find themselves on it.
18 baseball players from 1A to 6A were chosen to be on the cover, 6 of which were from the 2-1A ranks. Seniors L.J. Koelzer and Jackson Kolterman were part of that group and ventured out to Beloit almost a month ago for the photo shoot. Inside the magazine you'll find writeups on some of the top teams in Kansas for the three sports, including a feature article on the Onaga baseball team, as well as a writeup on the softball team.
A link below can be found for the digital version of the magazine, while hard copies will be released later this week and will be available at some Onaga businesses.
Congratulations to Jackson and L.J. on this honor, and good luck this season! GO BUFFALOES!!!

It was a clean sweep tonight for the baseball and softball teams in their season openers against Jackson Heights. The girls took care of business, run-ruling the Cobras in both game 11-1. The boys also pulled off a run-rule in their first game with an 11-1 win, then had to come from behind in the second game. Down 7-2 in the bottom of the 6th, senior Jackson Kolterman hit a three-run home run to cut the lead to 7-5. Then in the bottom of the 7th, with the game tied 7-7 and two outs, sophomore Casen Hutfles blasted his first career home run to walk off the 10-7 win.
The softball team has a JV game at Rock Creek tomorrow at 4:30pm, then both varsity teams will be back home on Thursday when the baseball team hosts Frankfort and the softball team hosts Marysville. Both double headers begin at 4:30pm.
Congratulations on the wins to both the baseball and softball teams tonight! GO BUFFALOES!!!
