Congratulations to our State Musicians who traveled to Hesston College on Saturday, April 26th! — Lillie Weiser (left) and Carmela Garcia-Losada (right) Lillie received an Excellent (2) rating for her alto saxophone solo and Carmela received a Superior (1) rating for her vocal solo! Congratulations, ladies, on all of your hard work.

🐣💛 Third Grade’s Egg-cellent Science Adventure! 💛🐣 Our third graders have been busy scientists lately—hatching chicks right in their classroom! 🐥🔬 They started with 20 hopeful eggs and cheered on as 10 fluffy friends made their way into the world! Throughout the project, students learned all about incubation, temperature, humidity, and the science of what it takes to bring a chick from egg to hatch day. It’s been a hands-on, heartwarming lesson they won’t forget! Today, the chicks made a special visit to other classrooms before heading off to their forever home with John Rickard and his family—who so generously donated the eggs and will now raise the chicks with care. 🧡 A BIG thank you to the Rickard family for making this amazing experience possible for our students! #BuffaloScience #EggToChick #HandsOnLearning #ThankYouRickardFamily #FluffyFieldTrip

Double Check. 🧁🎈 We recently celebrated the birthday of our amazing SRO, Officer Schiavo—and let’s just say he partied preschool-style! 🥳🎂 He wore a birthday hat with pride, shared laughs with our littlest learners, and reminded us all why he’s truly one of a kind. Officer Schiavo is more than just a uniform on campus—he’s a calm presence, a kind heart, and a trusted friend to our entire school community. We are so thankful for his dedication, compassion, and the joy he brings to our halls every day. A huge thank-you to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office for sharing and assigning Officer Schiavo to our school. The HS track team was back in action yesterday at the Frankfort Invitational. They managed to beat the weather as well as many personal records. Lillie Weiser got 1st in Pole Vault (with a season best 10'6"), 1st in High Jump, 1st in Long Jump, and 2nd in Triple Jump. Emmarsyn Fordham set personal records in both Shot Put and Discus and took 1st in both events. She threw 37'2" in Shot and 115'3" in Discus. Gavin Kolterman took 2nd in both Javelin and Shot Put with personal records in both. His best Javelin throw was 147'10" and his shot put throw was 42'6". The other placers on the day were Colin Brown taking 5th place in the 200 meter dash and Carmela Garcia-Losada taking 5th in Discus. Let's give a shout out to all of our track athletes for their hard work paying dividends!

🧠👨‍⚕️ Future Healthcare Heroes in the Making! 👩‍⚕️🩺 This week, our amazing 4th grade students took a hands-on tour of Community HealthCare System in Onaga as the final piece of their Career to Classroom program! 🎓🚑 Students explored the Radiology Department, where they got an up-close look at high-tech machines like the MRI, CT scanner, X-ray, ultrasound, and bone density scanner. They were fascinated watching how these tools help doctors look inside the human body! In the Lab, students learned how to locate veins, examined separated blood and cultures, and even viewed blood cells under a microscope—talk about science in action! 🧬🩸 The Therapy Department welcomed students with activities to test gross and fine motor skills, plus tours of the therapy pool, treatment rooms, and gym. It was a great reminder of how many different people and skills are involved in keeping a community healthy. It was another clean sweep in league play for the Buffalo baseball and softball teams, as they knocked off Blue Valley in their double-headers tonight. Both teams are back in action on Monday as they head to Centralia. Nice job tonight guys! GO BUFFALOES!!! It's game day again today for three of the spring sports teams, and a senior night for one of them. The track team gets things rolling this afternoon at 3:00pm at Frankfort, then it's the baseball team after that at 3:30pm. That time was moved up today in an attempt to beat potential weather. It's also the team's last varsity home games of the season, so they will be holding their senior recognition between their double-header against Blue Valley. Finally, the softball team is on the road today as they head to Randolph for a double-header against the Rams. Their first pitch remains as scheduled, at 4:30pm. Congratulations to all of the new inductees of Onaga's Chapter of the National Honor Society! The new students inducted last night (pictured from left to right): Kyra Weixelman, Keagan Venneberg, Marissa Sauvage, Cody Pennington, Brooklyn Kolterman, Casen Hutfles, Lily Falk, Makenzie Dorsey, Adalie Conley, and Xavier Berges. These students are a great addition to the Onaga Chapter!

*Attention for HS Baseball today 4/24* The start time for the high school baseball games tonight at Onaga have been moved up to 3:30 pm to try to beat the incoming weather. We are still planning on having our Senior Baseball Recognition ceremony in between the 1st and 2nd games. We apologize for any inconvenience!

When the weather doesn't cooperate for practice, what better way to spend it than by celebrating the successes the team has had this season. The JH track athletes used yesterday's poor weather to hand out all of the medals and ribbons that they have earned over the course of the season. Good luck trying to count them all! The JH track season is about halfway over and we are hopeful that the success will only increase as the season continues. Congratulations team!

Onaga athletes had another busy day on the track yesterday. The High School team traveled to Jackson Heights. Juniors Emmarsyn Fordham and Lillie Weiser continued their dominance this season. Emmarsyn took 1st in both the Shot Put and Discus. Lillie took first in the Pole Vault, High Jump, Triple Jump and 2nd in the Long Jump. Even with only 5 female athletes competing, the Girls as a team took 5th. Gavin Kolterman came very near placing in Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin, but fell just short. For the Junior High, they traveled to Frankfort yesterday after their long weekend off. They faced some stiff competition but still were very successful, bringing home a total of 79 ribbons as a team. Special shout outs to Allie Perry for taking 1st in the 7th Grade Girl's Shot Put and Carter Hutfles for taking 1st in the 7th Grade Boys Long Jump. It'll be a quick turnaround for the high school team as they travel to Frankfort tomorrow (weather pending) to continue their season. JH is back in action on Monday as they travel to Valley Heights.

It's another afternoon of activities with three different spring sports teams on the road this afternoon. The junior high team is in Frankfort and got things rolling this afternoon with field events beginning at 1:00pm.
