The Onaga High School seniors are holding a Scrap Metal Drive on Friday, November 7th from 8:00am to 3:00pm to raise funds for their senior trip!
If you have unwanted scrap metal lying around, let us help you clean up! We’ll come to your location, pick up any scrap metal, junk cars, converters, iron, tin, steel, copper, and more, and take it to a scrap metal recycling facility.
To schedule a pickup, contact Mr. Kufahl by phone or email. Please have items easily accessible and, if possible, in one location. We’ll have some equipment for loading larger items, but if you have a tractor or skid loader, it would be a big help!
Thank you for supporting our seniors as they try to reach their goals, and let us help you get rid of unwanted clutter!

Sergeant Torres and School Resource Officer (SRO) Jacks from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department visited Onaga High School to showcase the department’s drone capabilities as part of a career exploration opportunity for students.
During the presentation, students learned how drone technology is used in law enforcement for search and rescue missions, accident reconstruction, traffic monitoring, and emergency response. The demonstration gave students a firsthand look at how unmanned aerial systems (UAS) are transforming public safety and creating new career paths in both law enforcement and private sectors.
Onaga Schools extend their appreciation to Sergeant Torres and SRO Jacks for taking the time to share their expertise and inspire students to explore emerging technology careers.

🎃 Annual Spooktacular 2nd Grade Pumpkin Math! 🎃
Our 2nd graders had a frightfully fun time putting their estimation powers to the test this week! First, they made their boo-tiful best guesses, then checked their work with actual measurements. 👻📏
Using measuring tapes for tall and wide pumpkins, a scale to see how hefty each one was, and 10 Frames to count every last slimy seed — these math magicians learned that numbers can be spine-tinglingly fun! 🧮🎃
Of course, things got a little gooey and ghoulish when they scooped out the pumpkin “guts”… but that’s part of the Halloween magic! 💀🧡
Stop by during Parent-Teacher Conferences to see their fang-tastic pumpkin math displays and discover how their eerie estimations compared to the actual measurements!

The cross country team went to Centralia yesterday for the Twin Valley League meet, and once again had several runners improve their personal record time. A common theme this season, the boys continue to get better every meet and that was the case once again for juniors Colin Brown and Casen Hutfles, sophomore Korvin VanDonge, and freshman Brayden Bean.
Korvin finished first among the Onaga runners, finishing just four spots out from earning All-League honors in 16th place of the 48 runners at the meet. Brayden also had an exceptional day, improving on his P.R. by over two minutes.
The team has one final regular season meet next Tuesday when they head to Jackson Heights for their invitational, then it will be on to the postseason. Regionals will take place next Saturday, October 25th, and will be held at Central Heights in Richmond this year.
To see complete results from the TVL meet, or any of the other ones from this season, head over to the cross country team's page on the district website. A link can be found below.
Congratulations on a good showing at the league meet boys, keep up the hard work!

🎃👻 Our 4th & 5th grade Buffalo authors got spook-tacularly creative this week! Students wrote original spooky stories as part of their narrative writing project — practicing how to build a setting with sensory details, use vivid verbs, and weave in figurative language.
Each writer drew a random mix of conflict, setting, characters, and mysterious items to build their tale around. The results? Frightfully fantastic storytelling! 🖤🧡

The high school football team gets set for their final home game of the regular season tonight. They'll be welcoming Pleasant Ridge to town for a District #3 matchup, as the two teams vie for postseason seeding with just two games remaining. It's also senior night, as we thank Kenyon Boren, Josh Daniels, Gavin Kolterman, Graham Valburg, Keagan Venneberg, and their families for their years of dedication to Onaga High School football. Festivities will take place prior to kickoff, which is set for 7:00pm from the Rosenfield Sports Complex.
Also, plan to eat supper at the game, as Striker's Softball serves up pulled pork nachos, and pulled pork sandwiches with all of the fixings. They'll have food starting at 6:00pm.
Good luck tonight to the football team, and thank you to the seniors and their families for all you've done for Onaga football! GO BUFFALOES!!!
