Families,
With the extreme snow, wind, and low temperatures, we have faced many obstacles that prevented us from safely transporting and housing students this week. These schedule changes have also wreaked havoc on athletic schedules. We have spent a considerable amount of time trying to determine the best way to regain some normalcy despite the weather-related obstacles.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
Buses will not run door-to-door service for the remainder of the week (January 17-19). Morning pick up points will be designed at the following locations. Buses will be present from 7:00-7:30am. These spots will also be designated for Drop-Off in the afternoon from 3:45-4:15pm. Please use whichever one works best for your family.
Morning Pick Up - 7:00-7:30am
Afternoon Drop-Off - 3:45-4:15pm
- Havensville Grade School
- 16/63 Junction
- Wheaton Grade School
- Aiken Switch/Onaga Rd
CLASSROOMS
The elementary building walls are just over an inch thick, constructed primarily of particle board and vinyl with steel beams to join two particle board panels. As a result, the boiler is unable to keep up with the energy inefficiency of the building. With negative temperatures, frost is developing on the inside of the elementary classroom walls. We are doing everything we can to increase heating sources within the rooms. While temperatures remain below 32º, we ask parents to dress your children in warm layers such as long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts. We will allow students to wear coats during class as an extra layer of warmth.
We understand that your child may be unable to attend until the roads are safely traversable. If your child is unable to make it to school, we will count it as an excused absence. Please coordinate with elementary and high school secretaries each day.
We will continue to monitor road conditions and other factors. Please watch the normal modes of communication in the event school must be canceled at any point, but we will try to regain some normalcy with these temporary adjustments in operations.
We appreciate your support, and we look forward to seeing you again!

WATCH CHANNEL 13 NEWS TONIGHT AT 10PM!
Onaga Middle School students will be featured on WIBW's Good Kids Segment January 16 at 10pm.
Under the direction of Mrs. Glessner, 84 students conducted research over 168 artifacts for the Onaga Historical Museum. Society President Debbie Berges expressed, "many of the essays can be used to further develop the artifact/exhibit they researched."
We truly appreciate the passion Debbie Berges holds for the Museum, the School, and Onaga as a whole. It was so very kind of her to nominate our kids for this feature!
Be sure to tune in TONIGHT (Jan 16)!
