Mr. Figge's Agricultural Communications class started a fundraiser this semester, with their main goal being to create a survey which they learned about during the class. Last week, they "Quacked" Mrs. Kramer's kindergarten class, and Mr. O'Dell's office. To keep the ducks, $15 dollars must be paid, and the class plans to "Quack" many more. The money received will be donated to the Pottowatomie/Wabunsee County Library's Onaga branch. The class of 2024 has pledged to match the raised money. A great way to bring classroom learning to real-world experiences, and all for a great cause!

It's an eventful night at Onaga this evening, as the basketball teams get set to host Valley Heights in the final home game of the season. It's senior night, as five basketball players and three cheerleaders step on the home court for the final time as Buffaloes. All games will be played in the north gym, with JV girls playing two quarters first, then JV boys also playing two quarters. The varsity girls will follow, and at the conclusion of that game we will have Senior Night festivities. Then the varsity boys will wrap up the night. Don't forget to come to the games with an appetite, as we hold a soup supper benefit for Coach Chamley from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Good luck to both teams tonight! GO BUFFALOES!!! Yesterday, the student body wore their "Team Chamley" shirts to school in support of Coach Chamley and his fight with cancer. Fans wore theirs to the game last night against NEK, and players wore theirs during pregame warmups. Tonight we will do the same thing, as we encourage you all to wear your "Team Chamley" shirts to the game against Valley Heights. It's the final home game of the season for both teams, and Coach Chamley plans to be there if he is feeling up to it. Please come out and support the teams, and Coach Chamley. And make sure to come hungry, as the basketball team and others at USD 322 have come together to put on a benefit soup supper for Coach. The meal begins at 4:30pm and all proceeds this evening will go to the Chamley family. We hope to see you all tonight!

Tonight marks the final non-league game of the regular season for the high school basketball teams, as they get set to host the Northeast Kansas private school out of Topeka this evening. The games kick off at 4:30pm with the JV girls in the north gym, then at 5:45pm the varsity girls will take the court, with the JV boys playing in the south gym. Between games, we will be taking a picture in the stands of everyone in attendance with their shirt on. Also, plan to eat your supper at the home game on Friday as we will be having a benefit meal with the proceeds going to the Chamley family. Good luck to both teams tonight! GO BUFFALOES!!! Just a reminder, if you have a student in Pre-K through 8th grade and have a little extra time, it would benefit us greatly for you to follow the link below and fill out a short survey by this Friday, February 16th. The district is considering the addition or continuation of an educational enrichment program for our students. This opportunity is available through a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant administered by the Kansas Department of Education. This grant could provide an opportunity for the district to offer before school, after school, and summer programs that include both enrichment and academic activities. In order for the district to apply for the competitive grant, it is required that a needs assessment of the families and students attending the school(s) be completed. This assessment survey allows us to identify which program type (morning, after school, and/or summer) would be of most benefit to our district's families and helps us to learn about your needs. The survey will take no longer than ten minutes to complete. As you complete the survey, please think carefully about your circumstances and how such a program might best serve you and your child(ren). Please remember that the data gathered in this survey is anonymous and will be used to apply for the grant and guide program development. Thank you in advance for your support. https://surveys.greenbush.org/s3/21st-CCLC-Parent-Needs-Assessment-2024

Parents, with sickness going around please check out the school's health policies outlined in the student handbook. Page 32 in the handbook and Appendix C are great resources to check out and can both be found on the school website under the "Explore" tab and then by clicking on "Documents." Just a reminder, we have a 24 hour fever-free without medications policy. and a 24 hour vomit-free policy before returning to school. These and other details can be found in those documents. Also, dental screens are coming up! They take place every February, and this year our school is being screened February 29th from 9am to 11am. If you would like to opt your child out of this screening, follow the link below to print off the form and then return it to the school. https://5il.co/2epb1

With multiple teachers gone yesterday due to illness and a variety of other reasons, in addition to a shortage of subs for those same reasons, Onaga was in desperate need of additional support in the grade school yesterday. With staff stretched thin, numerous high school students stepped up to lend a helping hand. Throughout the day, students during advisory classes, independent studies, and those that had some free time during regular classes went down to the elementary to help out staff in numerous classrooms. It was another example of the great kids that we have a USD 322, the leadership abilities they possess, and their willingness to help when it's needed. It was another GREAT day to be a Buffalo!!!
