It's opening day of the high school football season and the Buffaloes are on the road to kick off their 2024 season tonight, as they head to Denton for a matchup against Doniphan West. They Mustangs are reentering the 11-man football ranks this season, a position Onaga was in a few years ago. The two league foes will kick off at 7:00pm this evening, and the game will be played in Denton at the elementary school. The game will also be livestreamed on the NFHS Network.

Buffaloes win! The junior high football team kicked off their season with a notch in the win column after a back-and-forth game against Valley Heights tonight. They now look to league play, as they host Doniphan West next Thursday in game #2.

The OHS Cheer team spent the summer practicing for hours to prepared for the 24-25 season. Their hard work was evident during Buff Bash. The group performed dances , stunts, and cheers in addition to organizing a fun preseason pep assembly. Support this outstanding group by cheering along and showing your Buffalo PRIDE
The first events of fall sports continue today, as the cross country team and both junior high sports compete for the first time this afternoon and evening.
The cross country team is heading to Mission Valley this afternoon in a 14-team meet. The girls will run their race at 5:00pm, and the boys will follow around 6:00pm.
The junior high teams are on the road today, as they head to Valley Heights for non-league matchups with the Mustangs. The volleyball team will get things rolling at 5:00pm with the A-team game, the B-team will follow at 6:00pm, and the C-team will wrap up the night at 7:00pm.
Meanwhile, the football team will be starting a little earlier than usual tonight. They will be playing a B-team scrimmage beginning at 5:00pm, then will play their game against Valley Heights beginning at 6:30pm.

Onaga's summer weights program asks that student attend weights either in the morning or evening four days a week for every week that KSHSAA allows the weight room to be open throughout the summer months. This is a lot of work for student-athletes that have busy summers, but pays off for those that make the commitment to be there as much as possible.
Students who attended summer weights at least 90% of the time were awarded shirts this week to congratulate them on their commitment to Onaga athletics as a whole, their teammates, as well as themselves. The high school volleyball team gets their season underway this evening, as it heads to Doniphan West for a league contest. Buff Bash concluded with a pep assembly led by the OHS cheer team. The juniors won the charades challenge, juniors and sophomores won the relay game, and all groups seemed to find a way in the pool during tug of war! The Buffalo Booster Club fed all students before they left for the night. #onagapride #gobuffs

Buffalo fans get their first look at the high school fall sports teams tonight with the annual Buff Bash. The volleyball team is taking on alumni at 5:00pm in the north gym, then the football and cross country teams will begin their scrimmages at the football field at 6:30pm. The football team will be scrimmaging each other, while the cross country team will be running on the track at the same time.
Afterwards, stick around for the pep rally put on by the Spirit Squad at the football field.

Reminder- Football practices for middle school and high school will be tomorrow morning before school due to forecasted heat and humidity on Monday. All athletes should be working on hydration today and everyday! Stay healthy by eating well, limiting caffeinated drinks, avoiding energy drinks, and getting plenty of rest.
Our first full week is in the books, and activities are starting to get rolling. With that, picture day and the Buff Bash are right around the corner!
