
Due to the approaching weather coming this afternoon and evening, Onaga Schools will be releasing students at 12:30pm today. All students will be fed lunch before being released. All activities for this evening and tomorrow are canceled.

Did you know that Pre-k thru 6 has a Leadership showcase? The students have worked on what a good leader is to them, and then they are featured for the week! If you are ever in the grade school, make sure and stop by (it is around the corner from the grade school office!!)

Parents of Buffalo Fun Club. We had an extra long character education lesson today, so our homework time was shortened. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Make sure to come support our high school girls’ and boys’ basketball teams play against Valley Heights and see the major improvements they’ve made since last season. The JV games start at 5:00 P.M tomorrow at the high school.


Personal Cell Phones and Electronic Equipment
K-6 student cell phones may not be powered on in the school building from 7:45 am - 3:30 pm on the days when school is in session. Students should secure their device in a secured area in the elementary classroom. Students needing to make a call, with their teacher's permission, may come to the office and make a call in the office using their cell phone. Cell phones and electronic equipment may not be powered on in a student's possession in school restrooms and/or locker rooms at any time (2 weeks detentions, ISS or OSS may be assigned by the principal). Phones discovered on or in use inappropriately will be confiscated until a parent/guardian can claim the item from the office.
7-12 students may use cell phones during passing periods and during lunch. Student cell phones are not allowed in the classroom without administration permission. Cell phones and electronic equipment may not be powered on in a student's possession in school restrooms and/or locker rooms at any time (2 weeks detention, ISS or OSS may be assigned by the principal). Phones discovered on or in use inappropriately will be confiscated until a parent/guardian can claim the item from the office. Teachers may designate a location within their classroom where students are to deposit their phones at the beginning of class. If students refuse, this is considered insubordination, and well be dealt with under the discipline policy.
Personal electronic equipment (visual, auditory, ipods, walkman, mp3 player, ect.) may not be used by the students in school without teacher permission. Teachers have the authority to confiscate the items. Confiscated items will be delivered to the office and may require parent/guardian to reclaim the electronic equipment. USD 322 is not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged electronic devices, cell phones, or personal items brought to school.

Tomorrow's theme for the home basketball game is white out. We would like fans and students to participate! Come out and cheer on the BUFFS! Tip off for the JV girls game is at 5:00!

Onaga Jr. High basketball home game with Doniphan West that was cancelled before break has been re-scheduled for Monday, January 6. Order of games will be 6:00 pm A-girls and B-boys 7:15 A-boys and B-girls.
Onaga High School will begin the second half of their season hosting Axtell on Tuesday, January 7. JV-girls will begin play at 5:00 p.m. in the North Gym. JV-boys will play at 5:45 p.m. in the South Gym. Varsity girls will play in the North Gym @ 6:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity boys. The C-team boys game has been cancelled.

Senior Morgan Mayginnes is not only celebrating her 18th birthday today! Morgan signed a letter of intent to Baker University, where she will be a member of the wrestling team. Go Mojo!!



USD 322 RECEIVES STATE RECOGNITION: Congratulations to everyone at USD 322 Onaga-Havensville-Wheaton for their exceptional work toward achieving the state board’s vision for Kansas education. Four years ago, the Kansas State Board of Education launched its new vision for education – Kansas leads the world in the success of each student – and identified key outcomes Kansans said they valued. These outcomes include social-emotional growth, kindergarten readiness, Individual Plan of Study, civic engagement, high school graduation and postsecondary success.
Today, KSDE is pleased to announce the launch of the Kansans Can Star Recognition program, designed to recognize districts for success achieved in the individual outcome areas. For this inaugural year of the program, KSDE is recognizing districts in these areas:
Commissioner’s Award (Exceeding predicted postsecondary effectiveness rates) and the Kansans Can Star Recognition (Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Copper in being Academically Prepared for Postsecondary Success, High School Graduation Rates, and Postsecondary Effectiveness.
On behalf of the State Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education, we are pleased to present USD 322 Onaga-Havensville-Wheaton the following recognition for the 2019-2020 school year:
Postsecondary Effectiveness: Bronze; Graduation Rate: Gold; and the Commissioner's Award

Here are the Christmas trees that have been placed by the grade school doors and the high school commons area. This is a nice reminder to anyone that walks by one of them that Christmas is just around the corner!



Our OHS basketball teams play their first home game today, Tuesday, December 17. Come out and support your Buffaloes while they compete against the Centralia Panthers. Games start at 4:45! As an added feature our OHS Spirit Squad will be performing at halftime of boy’s game.

The Onaga High School Buffaloes basketball teams kicked off their season on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. They may have lost all of those games, but there’s a whole season ahead. Join us today, 12.17.19 at 4:45 pm.


The 8th Grade class is currently learning about the process of crystal formation. The 8th graders got together with their Kindergarten buddies and showed them how to make their own snowflakes. This experiment is a fun way for kids to work together and learn at the same time.
