On Saturday, May 7, 2022, Joey Marten traveled to Salina, KS to participate in 1A Kansas State Forensics Championship in Exempt. Exempt consist of drawing a question relevant in the news (usually political) and you have 30 minutes to research and write a 7-minute speech defending your point of view on the topic.
At State Champs, you have to make it in the top 12 to go to the semi-finals, and then the top six to make it to the finals. That is five different topics and speeches that you have to give in a day.
Joey is now the new Kansas 1A State Forensics Champ in this event. A lot of hard work goes into any state event, and his hard work paid off. Joey has been in Forensics all four years. Joey, congratulations on this monumental achievement and bringing a title home to Onaga. We are VERY proud of you!
Pictures will be shared out soon.

Just a reminder that the Onaga Football Alumni organization is holding its annual golf tournament fundraiser on alumni weekend this year again which is this Saturday, May 7th. There is a typo in one of the flyers that says it is Sunday, May 8th, but it is on Saturday. And while the event will be its usual fun-packed day, the proceeds from this year are going to have a bit of a twist to them.
The Ron R. Lee and Richard J. Rosenfield Athlete – Scholar Award was established to continue their spirit of leadership and to inspire and reward excellence in our students. The scholarship is awarded annually to a scholar-athlete from Onaga High School at the graduation in May. Several anonymous and generous alumni have issued a challenge, calling upon our communities to help fund this scholarship so that it will always be a source of support and pride for USD 322 Onaga – Havensville – Wheaton Buffaloes. The anonymous donors are matching all donations to the Lee/Rosenfield Scholarship during the week of May 2nd – May 8th, dollar for dollar up to $10,000, bringing the maximum project total to $20,000! Success in this endeavor will secure a solid future of support for Onaga student athletes.
The Onaga Football Alumni group has stepped up to help sponsor this event. They will donate half of the proceeds from their golf tournament on Mother’s Day, May 7th, to the Lee/Rosenfield Scholarship! If you'd like to enter a team in the tournament, please contact Cool Springs Superintendent Craig Boswell at 785-477-1154. If you'd like to simply make a donation to this event, please contact Susie Kufahl, Director of the Caring Community Foundation in Onaga.

Appointments are every 20 minutes and there are multiple slots at each time. There are several ways to get your student signed up for an appointment. Students may come to the office to schedule their appointment, parents can call the High School office at 785-889-4251, or they can email Gayla Figge at figgeg@usd322.org.

As always, this is required for ALL students grade 7-12 to participate in any physical activity, whether during the school day or in activities.
Thank you!

We will be sending out a new concert date/time as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding that we want to make sure everyone stays safe this evening.

Due to the weather, today's golf meet at Washington County and JV baseball game against Blue Valley have been canceled. Make up dates are being discussed for both and will be announced when they are confirmed.
