Congratulations to Zac Fisher! The guard/forward for the Buffaloes basketball team was named to the TVL's All-League 2nd Team last week, his first All-League designation in the sport. The do-it-all junior averaged 8.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game over the course of the season as the team's leader. The highlight of his season came against a scrappy Flint Hills Christian team when Fisher scored 22 points, snagged 4 rebounds, recorded 4 assists, and had 6 steals.
While this may be his first postseason award for basketball, Zac is no stranger to All-League designations. He was named All-League in football his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons, and after Covid canceled baseball his freshman year, he was named All-League after his sophomore season. He was also named Honorable Mention All-State in baseball as a sophomore, and in football this past fall.
Congratulations again Zac, we look forward to seeing the fireworks in store for your senior season!

Due to anticipated winter storm, no school on Thursday for USD 322.

4th and 5th grades participated in an engineering project the last couple of weeks as part of their science instruction. Each group of students were provided a basic kit for constructing a wind turbine, and then teams competed for their opportunity to go to the regional competition next Wednesday at Kansas State University.
This project was sponsored by the Kansas Energy Program and they not only provided the kits for the students, but also a portable wind tunnel and energy sensors for measuring energy. The students learned so much about renewable energy, the engineering process, and how to work together as a group, and they came ups with some really creative designs!

More scholarships are available for high school juniors and seniors. Check out Counselor Polk's page on the school website to see the list!

CLASS OF 2022
To celebrate the high school career of our graduating seniors, we will “spotlight” each of them on this platform sometime during 4th quarter. Follow along with us as we share each senior’s photo and their advice for lower-classmen at OHS.

Mr. Kufahl's sophomore World History class just concluded their unit on the Scientific Revolution. Their project for the end of the unit was a "wax museum." Each student was randomly assigned one of the people discussed in class during the unit and they had to research them and put together a presentation. Today, they stood at the front of the class, then when the "button" was pushed, the "wax figure" came to life! They then told their life story and their contributions to the revolution.
Part of the assignment was to make an attempt at dressing up as their assigned person, and several students went all out! In these photos, Brianna Bates grew a mustache for her role as English physician William Harvey, while Maria Krohn and Rayce Fisher did their hair (or "hair" in Rayce's case) to look like mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.

Three high school wrestlers begin their state runs this morning at the 3-2-1A state wrestling meet in Hays.
