UPDATE: NO SCHOOL TODAY, Wednesday, March 5th. The school campus is covered in ice, and roads are continuing to drift shut, as a result a change had to be made to cancel school today for the safety of students and staff. We apologize for the late adjustment.

After losing his first match of the tournament, Jesse Miller won his second match yesterday to move himself into day two. Since getting going this morning, the freshman has been on a tear. He started the day off by knocking off Justin Lee, a freshman from Lyons High School who was the #5 ranked wrestler in the state for the 106 pound weight class and entered the match with a 28-5 record. Jesse pulled off the win in an 8-7 decision. Jesse then won his second match of the day in the consolation quarterfinals, guaranteeing him a medal for the weekend. He will wrestle Xzander Donner in the consolation semifinals for a chance to advance to the 3rd place match later today. Donner is a sophomore from Russell who entered the weekend as the #3 wrestler in the state for his weight class, and comes in with a 36-5 record. You can watch Jesse's final two matches, as well as Emmarsyn Fordham's championship match later today on the NFHS Network. We will also have results on the USD 322 website and social media. Lillie Student of the Week
Today is a special day for senior Bridgett Campbell, as she plans to sign her national Letter of Intent this afternoon to play softball at Neosho Community College next fall. Bridgett was a 2nd Team All-State selection last year as a junior when she helped lead the Buffaloes to a 3rd place finish at the state tournament. As a pitcher, she went 7-2 on the season with a 2.23 ERA while striking out 90 batters in 59.2 innings pitched. At the plate, she was second on the team in batting average, on base percentage, and slugging. Next fall, she'll join a Neosho team that went 37-14 last season, finishing second in the conference, ranked #19 in the nation, and are coached by the reigning Jayhawk Conference DII Coach of the Year. She plans to major in Athletic Training, with the ultimate goal being to get a degree in Occupational Therapy. Congratulations on this great accomplishment Bridgett! We look forward to watching the great things you'll do this upcoming softball season at Onaga, as well as next fall in Neosho!
