Our school nurse was busy last week helping the Pottawatomie Health Department give flu vaccines to our staff and students on Wednesday October 19th. Why get vaccinated? Flu is a contagious disease that spreads around the U.S. every year, usually between October and May. Anyone can get the flu but it is more dangerous for some people. Infants, pregnant people, people 65 years and older, and people with certain health conditions are all more at risk when they contract the flu.
Influenza can cause fever, chills, sore throat, fatigue, headache, and cold symptoms. Some have vomiting and diarrhea can also occur. Thousands of people in the U.S. die from influenza and many more hospitalized every year.
The flu vaccine prevents millions of illness and flu-related visits to the doctor each year.
Thank you to the Pottawatomie County Health Department and Nurse Valburg for providing this service to help keep our kids safe!

As in years past, USD 322 will be participating in the universal screening SAEBRS survey to identify student needs, provide prevention and/or positive supports and intervention. The survey will be administered again this year in the Fall (November) and Spring (March) to help staff support our students. Teachers will complete a survey to help identify children at risk for academic issues or other school-related concerns. We consider this information essential to meeting your students' needs.
Parents who are comfortable with the school delivering this survey to their students MUST opt-in. You may do so by completing and returning the form linked below or completing the online form by October 28th, 2022.
If you have questions, please contact Ms. Schuman at schumanm@usd322.org.
