On Wednesday night the KAYs organization did their annual fundraiser to raise money for world hunger. Every year the group does a "Trick or Treat" around town to collect spare change and any other donations people want to contribute to the cause. They then head back to the school to enjoy some pizza and count their donations, all of which is then sent to Heifer International to help with world hunger. Though a total wasn't available immediately following the event, several students said they collected "A LOT!"
Nice job KAYs!!!

We had a few crossed wires in the transition of photos from one entity to another, and as a result were unable to locate the cross country senior night pictures from earlier this month. We have finally uncrossed our wires and have them, and we wanted to give a shoutout to Gavin Goodrum and Tristin Frye, and their parents, for their years of dedication to Onaga cross country! Thank you for you commitment and many sacrifices for the betterment of Buffalo athletics!!!
The cross country team is gearing up for regionals on Saturday in Sabetha as they look to punch their ticket to the state meet. Good luck boys!

Ms. Klahr's kindergarten class had several things going on this week. In the first photo you'll see Brooke and Adelynn. Ms. Klahr has a reward system in her class where the students get tickets for being kind to friends, following directions, and doing positive actions towards themselves and others. Brooke and Adelynn had saved up their earnings and used their 30 tickets to pick out a surprise!
With Halloween around the corner, Ms. Klahr's class also learned the life cycle of a pumpkin. Now they are going to do their own experiment to see it in real life! They carved their own classroom pumpkin, “Pumpkin Jack.” Throughout the year they will see each stage of the life cycle using some of their five senses!

USD 322: Families, the phone system is working correctly again. You should now be able to call into the schools and district office per usual. Thank you for your patience.

It's Red Ribbon Time!

Don't forget to stop by the Book Fair during Parent-Teacher Conferences!
Wed-Thurs: 3:30-8:00pm • Open Mon-Thurs during school hours.

Junior high is between sports, and high school fall sports are gearing up for the postseason. Here are the activities for this week!

Mrs. Labbe's Food Science class is always a fun one, not only for the kids but also for the staff who get to "taste test" the results of their work. Recently the class made pepper jack-o'-lanterns, like the ones here made be seniors Rylie Honas and Konnor Nider. They then filled the peppers with italian sausage and other ingredients to create stuffed pepper, Halloween style!

It is very important to give your school nurse an updated shot record any time a vaccine is given throughout the school year year. Your provider can fax that information to 785-889-4662 or your child can hand carry a copy to give to the nurse.
For information from our school nurse, to download any forms that you may need, and more, visit the "Student Health" page on the district website, a link for which can be found below.

To finish up the English IV unit on The Canterbury Tales, students in Mrs. Claycamp's class had to create digital profiles for a specific character. This presentation was senior Hunter Lamond's on "The Knight," and he's explaining that if the "The Knight" had a cellphone, these are what you would find and why you would find them.
It was a creative, relatable, fun way to engage students when learning about something written over 700 years ago!

The book fair is coming to Onaga next week, and you and/or your child will have the opportunity to check out what the library has to offer. On Monday and Tuesday, the book fair will be open during the school day from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Then on Wednesday and Thursday, the book fair will be open from 8:30am through the end of parent-teacher conferences at 8:00pm.
We hope to see you and your child in the library next week!

The high school football team is back on the road tonight for a league and district tilt with Troy. A win against the Trojans would move them into fourth place in district #4, an important note since the top four teams in each district get to play a game in their final week for a chance to go to the playoffs. With the season winding down, both of these teams are playing for a league win and a chance to put themselves into the playoff conversation. They will kickoff tonight in Troy at 7:00pm.
Good luck tonight boys! GO BUFFALOES!!!

Brian Force, a member of the Manhattan Fire Department who lives in Wheaton, came and talked Mrs. Elliott's morning preschool class this week. The topic of the visit was fire safety. He showed the kids his cool gear, told them all about what he does, and discussed measures one can take when it comes to fire safety. Mrs. Elliott and the rest of USD 322 are very thankful for community involvement in our classroom! Thanks again Brian for visiting us!

The weather is changing and so are the sports, as fall seasons begin to wrap up. This afternoon the cross country team is heading to Axtell for the TVL meet. The team has one more meet after that next week, then regionals will be here next Saturday.
The junior high football team will be playing its final game of the season tonight, as they host OTL rival Frankfort here in Onaga. Please note two changes to this game as it pertains to the school calendar. First, the volleyball team will not be playing, as Frankfort elected to come to the quad in Onaga last week. Second, due to the possibility of storms this evening, the football game time has been moved up from 6:30pm to 5:00pm.
Good luck to our cross country runners at the league meet, and good luck to the football players looking to win their season finale! GO BUFFALOES!!!
