Congratulations to Landon Koelling! The senior wrestler has committed to Barton County Community College to continue his education and wrestling career. Landon finished his senior season with a 33-8 overall record and finished 5th at the state meet in Salina. He had a successful career that saw him make the state tournament three times, accumulating a 92-22 career record along the way. Good luck at Barton Landon, we know you'll do great things!

It's an eventful afternoon for Onaga athletics, with three different teams participating in events. The junior high track team is the first one up, as they get set to host their invitational this afternoon. Field events get rolling at 1:00pm. Also competing in Onaga is the golf team, who will be participating in the Frankfort Invitational this afternoon at Cool Springs in Onaga. They will tee off at 2:00pm. The only team on the road today is the high school track team, as they head to Seneca for the Nemaha Valley Invitational. Field events there start at 4:00pm. The softball team got back in the win column last night, taking care of Olpe in both games of their double header and improving their all-time record against the Eagles to 8-0. The golf season got underway this week with two meets in three days. In the two meets the Buffaloes have brought home two 1st place individual finishes, and four top ten finishes overall. Four students from OHS traveled to Centralia on April 3rd to compete in the league forensics meet. Every student showed improvement in their events and came really close to making finals. The softball team is on the road for the first time this season, as it heads south to Olpe for an early double-header this afternoon. The Buffaloes are 4-2 on the season and look to sweep Olpe for the fourth consecutive season when the two teams hit the field for a 4:00pm first pitch. Good luck today ladies! GO BUFFALOES!!! Last week, senior Kailee Dorsey went on a college visit to Cloud County Community College. Though she had plans to attend the school next year and be on the dance team, she had not made plans for her signing. The team, on the other hand, had, and they surprised her with a signing day event at the school! Kailee signed her Letter of Intent with the Thunderbirds while on the visit with her team and coaches there, and now it's official. She will attend there in August and be on the dance team for the 2024-2025 season. Congratulations on seeing this dream through Kailee! We look forward to seeing the great things we know you'll do in your future!

The high school golf team is in Washington this afternoon for their first meet of the season. The rain had the day in question, but the course is in good shape and they just teed off to get the meet started. We resolved driver availability concerns, and all bus routes will run as scheduled after school today (4/2/24). HS Track canceled and will not be rescheduled, but HS Golf is competing in Washington County today. Good luck to Coach Craig Boswell and the team!

At the end of 2023, the Caring Community Foundation did their annual "Caring Catalogue" which helps raise money for local causes and organizations. This year's event was a great success, raising over $66,000 for projects and organizations in the Onaga, St. Marys, Westmoreland, Frankfort, and other communities. Several of the causes this year were efforts at USD 322, including the addition of three new weight racks in the weight room. The new weight racks are very nice and because they can serve multiple purposes, they are allowing for the removal of older equipment which is opening up room in the small area, making the physical education of our students and athletes much more efficient. The students had been able to raise money over the last several years to buy two of them, but the goal has been to replace all five existing racks. Thanks to donations from Brandon Spevacek and other Caring Community Foundation Care Catalog sponsors, we were a little over halfway to our goal of purchasing one new weight rack this year. Then, just before the deadline for the Caring Catalogue, Tom Hood from Little Apple Toyota reached out to the foundation with interest in donating to several causes. Our weight room updates caught his eye and, in addition to other donations to the CCF, they gave the weight room nearly $5,000 to totally complete the project and purchase all three of the racks needed to complete the update. As a thank you, on Monday five seniors, Mr. Kufahl, Mr. Kite, and CCF Director Susie Kufahl went to Little Apple Toyota to thank them for their donation and express their gratitude for the investment they made in our students' future. There's no school today, but the baseball and softball teams aren't taking the day off. The softball team will be playing at home this afternoon, hosting Oskaloosa in a double-header that begins at 4:30pm.
