Congratulations to Konnor Nider! Last week the senior golfer signed his Letter of Intent with Barton County Community Collge in Great Bend. Konnor will attend school there in the fall and will be on the Cougar golf team in the spring. He is currently in the middle of a senior season that has been a successful one. He finished 1st at the Frankfort Invitational to help lead his team to one of the best overall scores in school history. He is a two-time state qualifier and looks to get back to Hesston this season. Good luck to you Konnor at Barton County! GO BUFFALOES!!!

The new weight racks arrived and have been set up in the weight room! Thanks to a $6,000 in donations from Little Apple Toyota, Brandon Spevacek, and other Caring Community Foundation Care Catalog sponsors, the weights program under the direction of Mr. Claycamp was able to get the final three racks to complete the room's set of five. We can't thank the donors enough for their generosity, this will help us run a much more efficient program in the weight room and, most importantly, the kids love them!

On April 12th, the senior class enjoyed the annual history tour with Mr. Kufahl and local history guru Donn Teske. The morning featured some stops at local places like Con’s Cave, the Big Fill, the ghost towns of Bigelow and Irving, and was capped off by a visit to Alcove Springs, which was a major stop on the Oregon Trail and where the Donner Party camped on their infamous trip to California. After lunch they visited Marshall's Ferry in Marysville, then returned to Onaga and learned about historically significant people and places to the area, connecting the dots from our local past to present day.

This week is Spring Sports Officials Appreciation Week in Kansas, and on Monday the Onaga baseball and softball teams showed their appreciation for the umpires of their sports. The two teams were hosting Valley Heights that evening and together they thanked the umpires on hand for the time they sacrifice, and the comittment they make to high school athletics so that our student-athletes can do what they love. Thank you to all KSHSAA officials for making high school athletics possible, and for the comittment you make to our kids!
