
There will be a pep bus for substate volleyball this Saturday, October 26th going to Centralia. The bus will leave from the school at 1:45 p.m. This bus will be open to any community member who needs a ride up to the games. Congratulations to our high school volleyball team for winning their Regional Tri at Clifton-Clyde last night! It was a very emotional night, but very exciting! Way to go Buffaloes! Be ready to come support them as they try to punch their ticket to the State Tournament this Saturday! Onaga's Sub-State will be hosted at Centralia High School. The tournament starts at 2:00 p.m. and Onaga will play in the 2nd game of the tournament against Rural Vista.

Junior high winter sports practices begin this week, high school volleyball and cross country head to regionals, and the football team plays its final regular season game of the season. Here are the activities scheduled for this week!


With the regular season in the rear view mirror, the high school volleyball team heads to Blue Valley today for the TVL tournament. The girls enter as the #8 seed and will be taking on #9 Washington County in the opening round at 9:00am this morning.

With basketball season just around the corner, the high school girls and boys basketball teams are planning an event for November 27th to kick off their seasons. The teams will be having an alumni basketball game, along with a "Free Throw-a-Thon" among several other events throughout the evening.
Festivities will begin at 5:00pm with a meal put on by the Booster Club, an autograph session for kids, and giveaways. At 6:00pm we will introduce the women alumni players before their game, then at 7:00pm we will do the same for the men. Door prizes will be given out to a couple of lucky alumni players, and there will be other events during the games that will make for a fun evening for both players and fans.
During those games, both the boys and girls teams will be participating in a "Free Throw-a-Thon" in the south gym. Attendees will have a chance to pledge towards the number of free throws individual players will make, will all proceeds going to the basketball teams. At the end of the night the number made for each player will be announced.

The high school football team took care of business tonight at Pleasant Ridge in a blowout win over the Rams. The win is their second in District #3 play and guarantees them a spot in the top four and a spot in the postseason in two weeks. They'll wrap up the regular season and district play next Friday when they host McLouth.

Two games remain on the regular season schedule, as the high school football team heads on the road this evening for the final time before the postseason. The Buffaloes head to Pleasant Ridge tonight to take on the Rams. Onaga currently sits in 4th place in the District #3 standings, looking to stay in the top four to get a chance at the playoffs which begin in two weeks. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.

The time to order your 2024-2025 yearbook is now! Until November 26th, you can get them at the reduced price of $25. After that, the price will go up to $30.
To order your yearbook, simply bring the $25 fee to Mrs. Claycamp at the school. You can also contact her at claycamps@usd322.org and place your order, then bring the fee to her at the school. All checks should be made out to OHS.

A tradition on Parent-Teacher Conference night, KAY will be conducting their "Trick-or-Treat Coin Drive for World Hunger" event this evening. Beginning at 6:00pm this evening, the Onaga High School KAY club members will be making their way around town to collect any spare change you are willing to part with. All of the proceeds go to Heifer International to help combat world hunger.

The junior high football team is wrapping up its season tonight, and for the final time 14 eighth graders will take the field as junior high football players at Onaga. Entering 5-1 on the year, the boys will be looking to end their season on a five game winning streak. They'll be at Clifton-Clyde tonight with kickoff set for 6:30pm.

The annual blood drive is coming back to Onaga High School, with this semester's date scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th from 1:00pm to 7:00pm. Per usual, one senior is in charge of organizing the event and will receive a scholarship if they are able to reach their goal. This year's senior in charge is Atalie Conger.
All students 16 or older, and all adults in the community are invited and encouraged to participate in the blood drive. If you are under the age of 18, you will need to get a parental consent form from Atalie to participate. This afternoon, senior Atalie Conger will be signing her National Letter of Intent to Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City. She will be competing for the Tiger dance team at Cowley next fall, and plans to major in secondary education.
The entire school is invited to join Atalie for her signing day ceremony, and we would like anyone from the public who wishes to join to come as well. The ceremony will begin at 12:30pm in the commons area.

The volleyball team gets set for its final home games of the season this afternoon, as it welcomes Blue Valley, Frankfort, and Linn to town. Today also marks the final regular season games of the season, with the TVL tournament coming up on Saturday and regionals and sub-state the following week.
The varsity games will all be played in the north gym tonight and the JV games in the south gym. Here is the schedule for all of the Onaga matches:

It will be an eventful night this evening as we also celebrate Senior Night for both the volleyball and cross country teams. That will take place before the final games of the night, which are scheduled for 8:00pm but will also be subject to time changes based off of the games taking place prior.
The volleyball girls are also asking that all fans in attendance wear pink tonight for their annual "Pink Out" event, as they help raise awareness for breast cancer during breast cancer awareness month.
So come out tonight to watch the volleyball team at home tonight for the final time this season, help us thank the senior volleyball and cross country athletes for their dedication to Onaga athletics, and help the girls as they show support for breast cancer awareness.

Junior high football wraps up its season this week, and the high school volleyball team will play in the TVL tournament on Saturday. A reminder, that tournament will be played at Blue Valley, which is in contrast to what the printed school calendar says.
Here are the activities for the week!


Today marks the final day of junior volleyball at Onaga for thirteen 8th graders, as they get ready for the Oregon Trail League Tournament this morning. The girls enter 5-12 on the season and will be seeded #4 in the 6-team tournament.
Games get underway at 9:00am with pool play action, but the girls won't play until 10:00 am when they take on #5 seeded Axtell who the Buffaloes just beat on Thursday night. They will then turn around and play #1 seed Centralia at 11:00am.
After pool play there will be a 15 minute break, then bracket play will begin. If the girls finish in the top two of their pool, they will take on one of the top two finishers from the other pool for a chance to punch their ticket to the championship game.
