
The Caring Community Foundation in Onaga is once again doing their Christmas Care Catalog, and the deadline to contribute is coming up this week. As always, there are several school-related causes in this year's catalog that you can donate to if you would like. The caring closet, FFA jackets, concession stand improvements, weight room equipment, and outdoor classroom are all featured in this year's catalog, as well as many other community-based fundraising efforts.

The high school wrestling team has been hard at it the last few weeks as it gears up for the 2023-2024 season. That gets underway this morning, and both the boys and girls are headed west for invitationals. The boys are getting started at 9:00am today at Rock Creek, while the girls will get things rolling at 9:30am at Riley County. The annual "Dinner and a Show" is coming up this week, and the first performance is tonight! This this year's show will be "Elf the Musical," and Mr. Hubbard and the kids have been hard at work making sure that this year's show will be a great one. As they did last year, they will also have a dinner before the show.
Smoked ham and all the fixings will be served both Friday and Saturday evening beginning at 5:00pm, with the curtains opening for the show at 7:00pm. The final performance will be on Sunday at 3:00pm, though there will not be dinner served that day.

Onaga Middle School is hosting a holiday dance! Grades 6-8 will be celebrating the holiday season with a dance in the multi-purpose room on Tuesday, December 12th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. No older/younger guests, or guests from other school may not attend the dance. The OMS Focus group will be handling the advertising, planning, decorating set-up/clean-up. The junior high basketball teams are back on the road today for the second time this season, as they head to Axtell for an OTL clash with the Eagles. Games get underway at 6:00pm with the A-team girls in the new gym and B-team boys in the old gym. The B-team girls will follow in the old gym and the A-team boys in the new gym, then the C-team boys will wrap things up in the new gym.

On Wednesday, the varsity scholars bowl team competed at a meet in Frankfort. The team went 6-3 on the night, which earned them 3rd place out of the 16 teams in attendance. Their losses came to Rock Creek, Nemaha Central, and Frankfort, but they got revenge on the Wildcats when they turned around and beat them in the consolation round to take 3rd.
This was the first varsity meet that Onaga has placed in under the direction of head coach Hannah Kolterman. Students who participated and are pictured were Gavin Kolterman, Dylan Magnett, Wyatt Boggs, Alyssa Rager, and Lillie Weiser.

Wrestling Team practices at 6:00am. The first meet is December 2.





The FFA Greenhand team went to the leadership conference last week and competed in several different events. The team did quite well, finishing finishing as one of the top teams overall in the competition. Here are the different events the team participated in and the results:
- In the Greenhand Rituals (opening and closing ceremonies), the team took 1st place overall.
- In the Greenhand Information test (50 questions over FFA history and Parliamentary Procedure rules) the team took 2nd place, with Xavier Berges winning the competition individually and Adalei Conley finishing 3rd.
- Greenhand Masters of Ritual saw two individuals take home top honors in their specific category. Willow Hochstedler received Greenhand Master Secretary, and Laney Marten received Greenhand Master Reporter.
- During Par Law (holding a meeting and following parliamentary procedure to pass a main motion), the team took 5th place.
- Overall, the team took 2nd place in the entire competition.
