The Onaga Buffaloes hosted their first triangular of the season, splitting their doubleheader on Thursday night. They beat Doniphan West 2-0 in the first match but fell to Valley Heights in straight sets, 25-10, 25-11.

Onaga began the night with a straight-set win over Doniphan West to improve to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the TVL, beating the Mustangs 25-20, 25-20. Senior Natalie Boswell led the offensive attack with 5 kills in the match, while fellow seniors Lauryn Marten and Lillie Weiser each had 4 kills a piece. Boswell also led the team with 4 aces in the contest, and Onaga scored a quarter of their points with her at the serving line.

Boswell also had a team-leading 9 digs in the match, with her sophomore sister Avery and seniors Addison DeChant and Abbie Ringel adding 5 each. Ringle, the team's setter, set up hitters throughout the contest with a team-leading 12 assists in the contest.

The Buffaloes then took on Valley Heights in the night's finale, their toughest opponent so far in the early season. The Mustangs played for the 2A state title a year ago and returned 1st Team All-League and 1st Team All-Stater Ava Smith, one of the best players in Kansas. She and Valley Heights proved to be too much for Onaga, winning the match 25-10, 25-11.

Natalie Boswell led the team in kills again, registering 5 in the contest, while Lauryn Marten gave a stellar offensive attack all around, tallying 3 kills and 3 digs.

The Buffaloes finished the night 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in league play. They'll be back in action on Monday when they host Manhattan's CHIEF school and will have a league match against Frankfort as well.
