In the season opening triangular on September 2, 2025 at Blue Valley, the Onaga volleyball team delivered a convincing 2-0 victory over the Clifton-Clyde Eagles to start off the night, winning both sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-9.
Onaga dominated across the board: 59 kills, 9 total blocks, 9 serving aces, 93 digs, 53 assists, and 83 receptions, compared to Clifton-Clyde’s 12 kills, 1 block, 1 ace, 25 digs, 9 assists, and 43 receptions.
Senior Lauryn Marten led the attack with 18 kills, and also anchored the defense, serving up 24 digs and dishing out 43 assists. Fellow senior Natalie Boswell was right there with her in her debut as a Buffalo, registering 18 digs and 10 kills.
Senior Lillie Weiser continued to show she is one of the best blockers in the league, recording 4 in the contest. While senior setter Abbie Ringel was dynamic, recording 4 serving aces, 24 digs, and 43 assists.
After watching the Eagles beat the host Rams in the second match of the night, Blue Valley triumphed over the Onaga 19-25, 25-19, 27-25 in the finale. Ultimately, Blue Valley pulled through in a fiercely competitive third set, sealing the victory.
Lauryn Marten led the Onaga offense again with 8 kills, showing her attacking prowess throughout the match. Abbie Ringel led the team with 23 assists and again led the team with 3 aces from the service line.
The Buffaloes are now 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in league play. It's a quick turnaround as they get set to host Doniphan West and Valley Heights in two days. The matches will start in Onaga at 5:00pm.
