KSHSAA Covered

Onaga's Zac Fisher was featured in the KSHSAA Covered list of "10 Baseball Players in Class 2-1A to Watch in 2023." Fisher made the list last year as well, although it was under a little different parameters. In 2022 it was 20 players in northeast Kansas 1-6A, as the publication did it by region. This year it was done by classification, meaning KSHSAA's media team has tabbed the senior Pitcher/Centerfielder as one of the 10 best players in the state in 2-1A heading into the season.

Fisher got off to a great start in the season opener when he went 4/8 on the night against Wabaunsee, while also scoring 7 runs and stealing 7 bases. His 7 runs scored are currently tied for first in the state of Kansas, with the two players he's tied with having played twice as many game. His 7 stolen bases are good for for the fifth most in the state, with, again, every player ahead of him having played twice as many games. He also pitched the second game of the night against the Chargers and went 4.0 innings, struck out 5, gave up no runs, and just two hits before the game ended due to a run rule.

Fisher was a 3rd Team All-State selection in 2022 and was joined by fellow senior Colby Simkins who was 2nd Team All-State, and sophomore Jackson Kolterman who was Honorable Mention All-State. They, and the rest of the Buffaloes, play Doniphan West/Riverside today at 4:30pm. To read the full article on Fisher and the other players to watch in 2-1A this year, follow the link below.
