THE PROGRAM: The Stella and Eli Pinet Memorial Scholarship Trust was established by Henrietta P. Ward to assist graduating seniors of Onaga High School, Onaga, Kansas, who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. The trust was created in memory of Mrs. Ward’s parents who lived in the Onaga community for forty years. Eli Pinet graduated from Onaga High School. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®. Scholarship America is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants to the Stella and Eli Pinet Memorial Scholarship Trust must be current high school seniors at Onaga High School, Onaga, KS, who plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. AWARDS If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an awards of $500. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and continuation of the program. Awards are for undergraduate study only.
APPLICATION: Interested students must complete the enclosed application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades to Scholarship America postmark deadline January 1. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment is not received within three weeks, applicants may call Scholarship America to verify the application has been received. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship America. SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS: Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does the sponsor or any faculty member of Onaga High School play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision of Scholarship America as final. Applicants will be notified in February. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the sponsor. The payment will be made in one installment on August 15. A check is mailed to each recipient's home address and made payable to the school for the student. OBLIGATIONS Recipients have no obligation to the sponsor. They are, however, required to supply Scholarship America with complete transcripts when requested and to notify Scholarship America of any changes of address, school enrollment, or other relevant information. REVISIONS The sponsor reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
