Senior to do list by the Month

Important Stuff to do during Senior Year

At least once a week :

  • Check guidance bulletin boards, school website & school email for new information regarding scholarship.
  • See counselor for information and applications regarding post-secondary education including the armed forces, colleges, and career-technical schools
  • Send completed admission application to one or more schools
  • Register for October ACT if needed
  • Register for November SAT if needed
  • Plan to visit schools of your choice
  • Check out www.kansasregents.org/scholarships_and_grants


  • START YOUR FASFA---go to https://fafsa.ed.gov/
  • Attend Financial Aid Night Oct 23
  • Review information received from institutions regarding scholarships, housing, costs, deadlines, etc.
  • Take ACT if registered
  • Register for December SAT if needed
  • Make application for admission if haven’t done so
  • Visit schools of your choice
  • Deadline for some campus/department scholarships Check your for Deadlines


  • Register for December ACT if needed
  • Register for the Jan SAT if needed
  • Take SAT if registered
  • Decide on post-secondary school
  • Return applications / forms to the school of your choice
  • Notify other schools of your plans not to attend
  • Get started on your FAFSA online.


  • Take ACT  or  SAT if registered
  • Deadline for some campus/department scholarships
  • If you still need the ACT or the SAT register to take it on the next available day
  • Get started on your FAFSA online.



  • Send 7-semester transcript if needed
  • Deadline for some campus / department scholarships
  • Get started on your FAFSA online


  • Complete and send federal financial form
  • Return all applications / forms requested by school


  • Send federal financial forms if haven’t done so
  • Complete local scholarship applications


  • Deadline for most local scholarships
  • Finalize all unfinished business with school


  • Arrange to have 8-semester transcript sent if needed
  • Pay all school fees that are owed
