Old Business:

Mrs. Hill reported on the “Measures of School Success.” These objectives parallel with the Common Core Standards. It was noted that AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) was no longer being utilized in the state of Kansas. The measurable objectives or otherwise known as AMO (annual measurable objectives), are based on achievement, growth, reduction of non-proficient, gap and participation.  The use of the A-Plus computer program has helped increase the graduation rates by allowing those students, who are lacking credits to take courses online. It was also noted that the state assessments are starting to evolve into the Core Standards.

Mrs. Berges presented on the Explore. The Explore was an ACT mock test which was given to the 8th graders. A parent meeting is planned for March to give the test scores. Mrs. Berges also reported on “School Climate.” School Climate is the anti-bullying agenda for the school. Mrs. Gronewoller spoke with many of the junior high student after Christmas break regarding bullying and the different types. Upon further discussion of the School Climate, Mrs. Hill presented the Council with a handout of the Actions/Consequences for each grade level in U.S.D. 322. The 7th and 8th grade have been busy learning about various careers in their career class.  Mrs. Berges also reported that Mrs. Elkamil has a speaker, Dr. Edith Coleman scheduled to speak on February 19th for Black History Day. Mrs. Elkamil is also in the process of starting a school drill team for those students in K thru 5th grade. Mrs. Krogmann, the art instructor, is also enthusiastic about establishing an Art Club.
