Miscellaneous Tidbits from the Counselor, Mrs. Berges

1. Thank you for your tremendous support of the Hop-a-Thon for Muscular Dystrophy Association.  OGS raised a total of $2,742.18.

2. Mrs. Tannahill’s 2nd grade class placed second for the third year in a row in the area-wide classrooms’ collections for pull-tabs with a total of 50 pounds.  In total OGS collected 71 pounds to the benefit of Ronald McDonald House.  Please “hoard” these tabs, and maybe OGS and/or Mrs. Tannahill’s class can place first next year.

3. For articles photos on these two projects plus others, please visit the school web site, under OGS, Berges – www.usd322.org

4. By saving the following items, you can help our school monetarily:  Boxtops for Education, Campbell’s Soup UPC symbols, used computer printer cartridges, cell phones, Capri Sun and Kool Aid drink pouches, and used up glue sticks.  The Lego Club always appreciates donations of Legos.

5. Next year OGS will be doing the Pennies for Patients to help raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for Children.  You might start stashing those pennies away in a container!

6. Students ages 7 through 10 were given information on a special contest to name a “person” made out of recyclables.  The person who submits the winning name and explanation will receive a $50.00 savings bond.  I hope that information made it home with your son/daughter.  If not, please contact me for a copy of the rules at 889-7104.

7. Recycling is an important “Caring” project of our school.  You can help with the recycling effort by depositing your recyclables at the recycling trailer at the fairgrounds.  Cardboard and newspapers are especially valuable to Pottawatomie Recycling as these can be sold to help raise funds for the transportation of the trailers.  Newspapers go to the brown receptacles at the west fair building.

I thank you for your support during this past school year.  Already I am looking forward to some changes in the delivery of the guidance program for next year.  Wednesdays have been set aside to meet with students, parents, and teachers.   Have a safe and happy summer.  See you at the ball diamonds!!
