Onaga High School Captures Topeka Collegiate Chess Tournament:

     The Onaga High School captured the Topeka Collegiate Invitational Chess Tournament on Saturday, February 6, 2010.   The Onaga team of Amber Hoing, (sr), John Gronewoller (so.), Eric Gudenkauf (so), Adam Gudenkauf (fr) Gage Cress (fr), and George Walker (fr)competed.   Onaga scored a total of 14 pts to capture the championship by defeating Chanute 13.5, Cherryvale 10, Lawrence High 10, and 5^th place was Thomas Moore Prep of Hays.

   Several  incomplete teams and individuals also competed in the annual tournament:   Individuals and medal winners of Onaga High were Amber Hoing ( 5^th), Adam Gudenkauf  ( 10^th), John Gronewoller (11^th), Gage Cress (19^th), George Walker (23^rd) and Eric Gudenkauf (26^th). The team will be competing in the Lawrence High Invitational on Saturday, 13^th at 9:30 AM in Lawrence.
